Tired of the same old wooden doors in your Minecraft world? Time to add a touch of sophistication with a 2×2 piston door. Easy to build and cost-effective, these doors can seamlessly integrate with your existing projects. Follow these steps to take your first step towards becoming a redstone wizard.
Materials Required:
- 12 x redstone dust
- 2 x redstone torches
- 4 x sticky pistons
- 4 x pressure plates
- Any other blocks of your choosing
Step-by-Step Guide:
- Dig the Foundation: Start by digging a 2 wide, 3 tall and 2 deep hole, ensuring that the center is where you want your future door to be.
- Extend the Hole: From the middle, dig 2 blocks outwards on either side, maintaining the same depth. At the end of both sides, dig 1 block further, but only 1 block deep.
The final layout should resemble a cross-like shape: - Place the Redstone: Cover the entire hole with Redstone dust, except the end blocks on either side. Place a Redstone torch on each of these end blocks.
- Build the Mechanism: On top of each Redstone torch, place a block of your choice (sandstone is a good option for consistency). Place a piece of Redstone dust on top of these blocks.
- Conceal the Redstone: Cover the hole with the same blocks used for your floor to blend seamlessly.
- Add the Pistons: Place 2 sticky pistons on one side, right up against the blocks with Redstone dust, and 2 on the opposite side. Ensure they face each other. Place your chosen door blocks in the middle.
- Install Pressure Plates: Finally, place pressure plates on either side of the door. Use 2 on each side or just one, depending on your preference.
With these steps, you’ve added a sleek and functional 2×2 piston door to your Minecraft world.
