What is Don't Starve Together

Don't Starve Together is a survival game with a hand-drawn, Tim Burton-esque art style, developed by Klei Entertainment. The goal of the game is exactly what the name suggests, you have to survive as long as you can in a hostile world called The Constant, where almost everything in the world is trying to kill you.

The game features hand-drawn, Tim Burton-esque visuals that set an eerie tone as you gather resources, fight off terrifying creatures, and build bases with friends. Alongside managing hunger and health, maintaining your sanity is a key element, as losing it leads to hallucinations and deadly shadow monsters.

Multiplayer

Don't Starve Together is the standalone multiplayer version of Don't Starve. By default it supports up to 6 players, but this can be configured higher with mods. Players can join and leave freely. The Steam Workshop has thousands of mods available, adding new characters, items, biomes, creatures, and quality-of-life improvements. Popular ones include Global Positions, Geometric Placement, and a huge range of character mods. Server-side mods are downloaded automatically when players join, so there's no manual setup needed.

Seasonal Survival

The gameplay loop in Don't Starve Together is gathering resources, crafting tools, building a camp, growing food, and preparing for the next season. Each season brings its own threats. Spring has heavy rain and frog plagues, summer causes overheating and wildfires that can burn your base down, autumn is the calm window, and winter brings freezing temperatures and food shortages. Each season also has its own boss that will turn up to attack your camp, Deerclops in winter, Bearger in autumn, Dragonfly in summer, and Moose/Goose in spring.

Playable Characters

Every playable character in Don't Starve Together has their own abilities and drawbacks. Wilson, the default character, grows a beard that gives him insulation in winter. Wickerbottom is a librarian who can craft magical books, but she can't sleep. Wolfgang is a strongman who does more damage when he's well-fed, but becomes weaker when he's hungry. This means that in co-op, players naturally end up taking on different roles depending on the character they pick.
