What is Sons Of The Forest?

Sons Of The Forest is the sequel to the original The Forest game, developed by Endnight Games. You play as a member of a private rescue mission, tasked with finding a missing billionaire and his family on a remote island. When the mission goes wrong and your helicopter is shot down, you find yourself stranded on a mysterious island, where you must survive and fend off mutated cannibal tribes and strange creatures lurking in the caves and abandoned bunkers below.

When you wake up from the helicopter crash, you find yourself with a companion called Kelvin who also survived, Kelvin is friendly and can be used to help you gather resources and build shelter, though he's deaf from the crash so you'll need to communicate with him through written notes. Later in the game you can also recruit Virginia, a three-legged, three-armed mutant who'll join you if you earn her trust by not attacking her. You also have a GPS on your wrist, which tells you locations to explore, most of the games progression is covered by exploring caves and underground complexes, where you'll find better weapons, story clues and unique items needed to progress through the main storyline.

Multiplayer

Cannibal Mutants

Enemies in Sons of The Forest are quite sophisticated, they consist of cannibals and mutants, with cannibals being the most common. Rather than simply attack you on site, enemies will stalk you from a distance and learn your routine. Initially they won't attack, standing off at a distance, as the game progresses they will approach you, and judge your reaction, if you behave like prey they will attack, if they consider you to be strong, they'll be more cautious. Leader cannibals are more aggressive and dangerous than regular tribes people, often wearing painted markings and leading raids on your base.

Mutants are found deeper in the caves, they include the multi-limbed Twins, the creepy Fingers, and the John 1 boss. Enemy behaviour also changes with the seasons, winter brings more aggressive raids as food becomes scarce, and night-time makes them more willing to attack. Burning corpses and building large defensive bases will make cannibals more cautious, while leaving bodies around your camp will draw them in for more frequent attacks.
