What is Error 403?

403 Forbidden is an error message sent by a website if you have tried to access a file or path which is protected (or you are not authorised to access). Many websites contain files and paths which are not intended to be public, and for security reasons, if anyone tries to access these, the website will reject it and return Error 403.
