Basic Stamina Settings (Most Common)

These values control the overall stamina feel and are usually enough for most servers.

staminaMax

  • Controls the player’s total stamina pool.
    – Higher value → more stamina available
    – Very high values → near-unlimited stamina

    Example values:
  • 100.0 → Default
  • 500.0 → Very high stamina
  • 999999.0 → Effectively unlimited stamina

staminaWeightLimitThreshold

Defines how much weight (in grams) a player can carry before stamina penalties apply.

  • Higher value → carry more gear without stamina loss

Example values:

  • 6000.0 → Default
  • 20000.0 → Heavy gear without penalty
  • 999999.0 → No weight penalty

staminaKgToStaminaPercentPenalty

Controls how strongly carried weight reduces stamina.

  • Higher value → stronger penalty
  • Lower value → weight has less impact

Example values:

  • 1.75 → Default
  • 0.5 → Light penalty
  • 0.0 → Weight does not affect stamina

staminaMinCap

Sets the minimum stamina percentage a player can reach.

  • Prevents stamina from dropping too low

Example values:

  • 5.0 → Default
  • 50.0 → Stamina never drops below 50%
  • 100.0 → Always full stamina

Advanced Stamina Settings (Optional)

These settings adjust stamina usage for specific actions.

Sprinting

sprintStaminaModifierErc

  • Controls stamina drain while sprinting (standing).

sprintStaminaModifierCro

  • Controls stamina drain while sprinting while crouched.
    1.0 → Default stamina usage
    0.5 → Half stamina drain
    0.0 → No stamina drain while sprinting

Swimming & Climbing

sprintSwimmingStaminaModifier

  • Controls stamina drain while sprint swimming.

sprintLadderStaminaModifier

  • Controls stamina drain while climbing ladders.
    Lower values reduce stamina usage
    0.0 disables stamina drain for that action

Combat & Movement

meleeStaminaModifier

  • Controls stamina cost for melee attacks.

obstacleTraversalStaminaModifier

  • Controls stamina usage when vaulting or climbing obstacles.

Breath Control

holdBreathStaminaModifier

  • Controls stamina drain while holding breath.
  • Useful for sniping or underwater gameplay

Tips

For unlimited stamina servers, you usually only need to modify:

  • staminaMax
  • staminaWeightLimitThreshold
  • staminaKgToStaminaPercentPenalty
  • Sprint modifiers (sprintStaminaModifierErc / Cro)

The advanced values can stay at default unless you want very specific behavior

9. Example: Unlimited Stamina

To give players unlimited stamina, change your ‘StaminaData‘ block to something like this:

"StaminaData":
{
"sprintStaminaModifierErc": 0.0,
"sprintStaminaModifierCro": 0.0,
"staminaWeightLimitThreshold": 999999.0,
"staminaMax": 999999.0,
"staminaKgToStaminaPercentPenalty": 0.0,
"staminaMinCap": 100.0,
"sprintSwimmingStaminaModifier": 0.0,
"sprintLadderStaminaModifier": 0.0,
"meleeStaminaModifier": 0.0,
"obstacleTraversalStaminaModifier": 0.0,
"holdBreathStaminaModifier": 0.0
}
,

This setup achieves:

  • Unlimited sprint
  • No stamina loss from weight
  • Infinite hold breath
  • No melee/climbing/obstacle stamina drain
  • Always 100% stamina displayed

10. Save the File

Select ‘Save Content’ button once your changes are complete.

11. Restart Your Server

Your server must be restarted for the new stamina settings to take effect.

12. Quick troubleshooting

If server fails to start after edit → check JSON syntax (trailing commas, unmatched braces).

If stamina changes don’t apply → confirm enableCfgGameplayFile = 1; in serverDZ.cfg and that you edited the cfggameplay.json for the active mission folder (map name matches).

For modded maps, ensure cfggameplay.json is in the correct mpmissions/DayZOffline.[map]/ folder.
