How to Enable or Disable Base Damage on Your DayZ Server

1. Log In to Your Panel


2. Stop Your Server


3. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

4. Open the serverDZ.cfg

You can find the serverDZ.cfg folder in the root directory.

5. Enable Gameplay Configuration Support

Add the following line anywhere in your serverDZ.cfg file:

enableCfgGameplayFile = 1;

Select the ‘SAVE CONTENT’ button.

6. Start Your Server

7. Locate the cfggameplay.json file

You can find it here:

/mpmissions/DayZOffline.[map]/cfggameplay.json

8. Key Base Damage Settings


Disable Base Damage

Controls whether bases (player structures) take damage.

  • "disableBaseDamage" : true
    Prevents buildings and structures from being damaged
  • "disableBaseDamage" : false
    Allows base damage as normal

Disable Container Damage

Controls whether containers (e.g., barrels, boxes) can be damaged.

  • "disableContainerDamage" : true
    Prevents containers from taking damage
  • "disableContainerDamage" : false
    Allows container damage

Other Useful Gameplay Flags

These are not about base damage but are often useful together:

These options are also part of the GeneralData section.
They do not affect base damage directly, but they control player respawn behaviour and are often adjusted together with PvE or hardcore settings.

  • disableRespawnDialog
    Controls whether the respawn dialog is shown when a player dies.

    false → Default behaviour
    Players see the respawn screen and can choose how to respawn.

    true → Respawn dialog disabled
    The respawn screen is hidden and players are forced to respawn automatically.
  • disableRespawnInUnconsciousness
    Controls whether players are allowed to respawn while unconscious.

    false → Default behaviour
    Players can choose to respawn while unconscious.

    true → Respawn while unconscious disabled
    Players must wait until they either recover or die naturally.

9. Save the File

Select ‘Save Content’ button once your changes are complete.
