How to List Your Rust Server as a Community Server

1. Log In to Your Panel

2. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

3. Locate the ‘oxide.config.json’ File

You can find the file in /home/container/oxide.

4. Edit the ‘oxide.config.json’ File

Set the ‘Modded‘ option to false.

This step tells Rust and Steam that your server does not run gameplay-altering mods, which is required for it to appear in the Community Servers list.

7. Community Servers Guidelines

To qualify as a Community Server and avoid being listed as Modded, you should follow these basic rules from Facepunch Studios:

  • Avoid gameplay-altering mods: Do not install plugins or mods that change core mechanics, such as resource gathering rates, combat mechanics, or other gameplay features.
  • Keep the UI unchanged: Do not use plugins that modify, hide, or add elements to the game interface.
  • Use approved administrative plugins only: Plugins for server management are allowed as long as they do not impact gameplay.
    • Examples include:
      → Admin radar tools
      → Vanish for admins
→ Chat management plugins that do not alter gameplay
