5. Understand Zombie Events

Infected spawns are controlled by event entries like:

<event name="InfectedVillage">

Each infected event contains values such as:

  • nominal – Target number of zombies spawned
  • min – Minimum number allowed
  • max – Maximum number allowed
  • lifetime – How long infected remain before despawning
  • restock – How often the server attempts to respawn themtart, set reset="1" temporarily to force the server to reload the weather configuration.

6. Adjust Zombie Spawn Amounts

Example: Increase zombie count in villages

  • Default-style values

<nominal>15
<min>10
<max>20

  • Increased spawn example

<nominal>30
<min>20
<max>40

This results in:

  • More infected per area
  • Faster repopulation after zombies are killed
  • Higher difficulty and player pressure

7. Common Zombie Events You Can Edit

Some commonly adjusted infected events include:

  • InfectedVillage
  • InfectedCity
  • InfectedTown
  • InfectedIndustrial
  • InfectedMilitary
  • InfectedPolice
  • InfectedSchool
  • InfectedFirefighter

You can tune each area type independently.

8. Save the File

After making your changes, select the ‘Save Content‘ button.

Make sure:

  • No duplicate entries
  • XML syntax remains valid
  • No missing tags

9. Restart Your Server

DayZ will reload the updated events.xml automatically.
