How To Change Your Rust Server Era to Medieval or Primitive

In Primitive Game Mode, servers follow specific rules that limit which weapons, building materials, and ammo players can use. As time progresses, server owners can change the Era, unlocking new items or keeping restrictions.

1. Log In to Your Panel


2. Select the ‘Startup’ Tab

3. Add Your Gamemode to the ‘GAMEMODE’ Field

Enter ‘primitive’ in the ‘GAMEMODE’ field.

4. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

5. Locate the ‘cfg’ Folder

This folder is in /home/container/server/rust/cfg.

6. Create a New ‘server.cfg’ File

If you already have a ‘server.cfg’ file, you can skip Steps 5 and 6 and go directly to Step 7.

7. Select ‘Create File’ Button at the Bottom


8. Enter the File Name ‘server.cfg’

Enter the file name in the ‘File Name’ field as ‘server.cfg’.

Select the ‘Create File’ button.

9. Edit the ‘server.cfg’ File

10. Set the Era

Add one of the following commands in the server console or on a new line in your configuration:

server.era primitive → Most restrictive, limits items, buildings, and NPC spawns.

server.era medieval → Adds medieval weapons (Blunderbuss, Double Barrel, Revolver), keeps other restrictions.

server.era none → Resets to vanilla, no restrictions.

server.era frontier → Similar to Medieval; mostly redundant.

server.era rust → Full vanilla game, no restrictions.


11. Select the ‘Save Content’ Button
