How To Analyze a Timings Report

1. Open Your Generated Timings Report

If you don’t know how to generate timings reports, you can view our How To Create a Timings Report on Your Minecraft Server article.

2. Select the ‘Avg’ Button

2.1. Check the Count() on the ‘Minecraft::Full Server Tick’ Line

This value should be below 18.

A value greater than 18 would mean that our server isn’t experiencing consistent tick-related lag, which could be due to latency issues and fixing it would involve changing the server’s location.

Steps to check the entity count

3.1. Check Entity Count

If there are more than 2000 entities active simultaneously in the world, this can cause a significant drop in performance.

3.2. Check the Number of Entities by Type

You can break down each section of the entity counters and see the exact number of entities by their type. This way, you can determine whether you have an overpopulation of peaceful or hostile entities.

4. Check the Alerts Report

If there is a performance issue or similar problem, the timings report can alert us if some settings are not optimized or are beyond their normal values.

In our case, we have an alert indicating that we are not using Aikar’s flags, which also provides a solution through a ‘FIX THIS’ button.
