How To Create Instances in MultiMC

Note:

In this article, we will explain how to create instances in MultiMC, which is a free alternative launcher that allows you to manage different versions of the game much more easily.

Each instance (unlike the official launcher) lets you have separate versions without the risk of files getting mixed up, which is ideal if you play with many mods or have multiple versions.

MultiMC is exclusively for users who own the original game (premium).

1. Download MultiMC

After downloading it, follow the steps provided by the program for its installation.

2. Open MultiMC

3. Select the ‘Add Instance’ Button

3.1. Set a Name for Your Instance/Modpack

You can choose any name you want. In our case we’ll call it ‘My Modpack’.

(2) Set the Version for Your Instance/Modpack

(3) Save the Changes

4. Edit the Instance You Created

4.1. Install the Modloader On the Instance

The modloader will depend on the type of mod or modpack you intend to play with, so you must ensure you’ve researched this information beforehand on the page where you downloaded the mod or modpack.

(2) Select ‘Open .Minecraft’

4.2. Install the Mods You Want Inside the Mods Folder

The mods you download should be placed inside the mods folder.
