How to Fix ‘Waiting for RCON to Come Up’ on Your Rust Server

Note:

f your panel shows ‘Waiting for RCON to Come Up’, it usually means the server is running, but RCON is not responding yet.

This issue is very common on Rust servers and is almost always caused by configuration problems, firewall ports, or plugins blocking startup.

Since the RCON port is assigned automatically by the panel, you only need to fix the password.

1. Log In to Your Panel

2. Select the ‘Startup’ Tab

3. Fix the RCON Password

Add your RCON password in the ‘RCON PASSWORD’ field.

Your password must:

✔ Contain only letters and numbers.
✘ No special characters.
✘ No spaces.

Invalid characters in this field are one of the most common reasons RCON fails to initialise.

If in doubt, set a new, simple password such as (DO NOT use the exact password below):
MyNewRconPass123

4. Restart Your Server

RCON will only reload after a full restart.

After the server finishes booting, the RCON message should disappear within a few seconds.
