How to Install Vanish Plugin on Your Rust Server

The Vanish plugin allows players with the correct permissions to turn completely invisible. While invisible, players, NPCs, turrets, helicopters, and other entities won’t detect you.

You’ll still be able to hear others, but they cannot hear or see you, even if they walk directly through your character.

The only exception is when you perform noticeable actions (for example, shooting a weapon, where the bullet impact can still be heard).

1. Download the Plugin

Download the “Vanish” plugin from the Umod official website.


2. Log In to Your Panel


3. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

4. Locate the ‘plugins’ Folder

You can find the folder in  /home/container/oxide/plugins.

5. Upload Your Plugin

Upload the ‘Vanish’ .cs file you downloaded in Step 1.

After uploading, you should see the .cs file in the folder.

6. Restart Your Server

7. Assigning Permissions

Players with the required permission can use the vanish command ingame.

To grant yourself or another admin a permission, run the following command in your server console. Replace <steamID> with the player’s SteamID and <permission> with the permission you want to assign

o.grant user <steamID> <permission>

Available Permissions

  • vanish.allow → Required to use the vanish command and become invisible.
  • vanish.unlock → Lets an invisible player unlock locks.
  • vanish.damage → Allows vanished players to deal damage to entities (requires the Use OnEntityTakeDamage hook option enabled in the plugin config).
  • vanish.permanent → Forces a player to always remain vanished.
  • vanish.invviewer → Grants access to /inv and the ability to view other containers with the interaction feature.

8. In-Game Commands

You can use these chat commands in-game:

  • /vanish → Toggle invisibility on/off for self.
  • /inv <username or steamID> → View a players inventory.
    Replace <username or steamID> with the player’s username or steamID.
    Example: /inv John or /inv 76561199999999999
