How to Locate the server.cfg File on Your Rust Server

Note:

The server.cfg file is optional. If it doesn’t exist, Rust will fall back to its default startup settings or the options defined in the Startup tab of your panel.

Keeping your key commands here ensures they persist even after updates or restarts.

To edit it later, return to the same directory and open server.cfg again.

1. Log In to Your Panel

2. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

3. Locate the ‘cfg’ Folder

This folder is located at /home/container/server/rust/cfg.

Inside the cfg folder, look for a file named server.cfg. If it’s there, you can open and edit it directly to adjust your server settings.

If the file is missing, don’t worry, you can easily create it by following the next steps.

4 (Optional). Create a New ‘server.cfg’ File

Select the ‘Create New File’ button.

5 (Optional). Enter the Name ‘server.cfg’

Enter the file name in the ‘File Name’ field as ‘server.cfg’.

Select the ‘Create File’ button.
