Troubleshooting Joining Issues for Ark: Survival Evolved

There are two primary reasons for being unable to join your Ark: Survival Evolved server. See below for steps for each one.

1. Ensure the Correct Port is Being Used to Connect

Ark: Survival Evolved doesn’t use the usual port number that is displayed on your panel dashboard. You must use the Query Port from the Startup Page.

2. Check the Version of Ark: Survival Evolved on Both the Server and Your Client

For improved stability for most users, the Cybrancee Ark: Survival Evolved servers start up using the Pre Aquatica branch. If you are using the Aquatica branch, you will not be able to join the server. There are two options from here. You can either change the server to use Aquatica (known issues from the Ark developers, but does sometimes work), or change your local client to use the Pre Aquatica beta branch.

2a. Change Your Steam to Use Pre Aquatica

  1. Right click the game in Steam
  2. Click “properties”
  3. Click “Betas” on the left
  4. Use the dropdown to select “preaquatica -ASE : Pre-Aquatic”
  5. Close the menu

2b. Change Your Server to Use Aquatica

Take a backup before proceeding.

  1. Go to the Startup page
  2. Remove the value from the “BETA BRANCH (REQUIRES REINSTALL) field
  3. Go to the Settings page
  4. Press the Reinstall button
