How to Add Custom Name Tags and Colours on Your Minecraft Server (NametagEditX)

Note:

NametagEditX is a Spigot plugin that allows custom prefixes and suffixes to appear above a player’s head and inside the tab menu. While chat plugins handle what names look like when players type, NametagEdit ensures that a player’s VIP or Admin rank floats proudly above their character model in the actual game world for everyone to see!

1. Download the NameTagEditX Plugin

Note: Make sure to match your Server Version and Platform.

2. Log In to Your Panel

3. Select the ‘Files‘ Tab

4. Select the ‘Plugins‘ Folder

5. Upload ‘AuthMe.jar‘ Into the ‘Plugins‘ Folder

6. Restart Your Server

7. Give an Individual Player a Custom Tag

Open your in-game chat and use the following command:
/nte player [PlayerName] prefix [Text]

For example, typing /nte player Notch prefix &c[Admin] will give the player a red Admin tag that floats permanently above their character’s head

8. Link Tags to Permission Groups

If you use a plugin like LuckPerms, you can link Name Tags to your existing ranks so players get them automatically. Use the command /nte group [GroupName] prefix [Text] to assign a floating tag to an entire group at once!

(Note: If the group doesn’t exist yet in NametagEditX, you must create it first using
/nte group add [GroupName])

9. Essential NametagEditX Commands

/nte reloadReloads the plugin configuration without restarting the server
/nte player [player] clearRemoves the custom prefix and suffix for a specific player
/nte player [player] suffix [text]Adds custom text after the player’s name instead of before it
/nte group listDisplays a list of all currently loaded groups
/nte group order [groups]Changes the priority/sorting order of groups in the TAB list
