How To Fix Mod Version Mismatch on Your DayZ Server

1. Log In to Your Panel

2. Stop Your Server

3. Identify the Mod Causing the Error

When a player tries to join, DayZ will usually show a version mismatch message. This message tells you which mod is causing the problem.

Take note of the mod name shown in the error, this is the one you need to check and update.

4. Select the ‘Startup’ Tab

5. Allow ‘AUTOMATIC UPDATES’

Navigate to ‘Automatic Updates‘ in the ‘Startup’ tab and make sure it’s enabled so your server can download mod updates automatically.

6. Verify Mod Load Order

Check in the ‘Startup‘ tab under the ‘ADDITIONAL MODS‘ section and confirm:

  • The mod is listed only once.
  • Dependencies (such as CF) are loaded before mods that require them.
  • The load order has not been changed accidentally.

Incorrect load order can trigger version mismatch errors even if versions match.

7. Restart the Server

8. Check the Client Side

If the server is fully updated and the error still shows up, the problem is usually on the player’s end.

Ask the player to try the following:

  • Fully close DayZ
  • Restart Steam so Workshop updates can refresh
  • Open the DayZ launcher and wait until all mods finish updating
  • Double-check that the same mods are enabled as on the server

If the issue persists, the player can unsubscribe from the affected mod and then subscribe again to force a clean download.

Once their mods are fully up to date, they should be able to join without seeing the version mismatch error.

9. Clear and Reinstall the Mod (optional)

If the version mismatch error still persists after updating both server and client, reinstalling the mod can resolve corrupted or incomplete files.

9.1. Remove the Mod

Delete the mod from the ‘additional mods’
