How to Join a Rust Server

Join Using the Rust Server List


1. Launch Rust


2. Select the ‘Play’ Tab

You’ll see several tabs:

  • Official — servers managed by Facepunch.
  • Community — servers hosted by other players or game hosting providers.
  • Modded — servers running Oxide or uMod plugins.

3. Use the Search Bar

Use the search bar to find your server by name.

If your server doesn’t appear immediately, wait a few minutes after it starts, it can take a short time for new servers to show up in the public list.

4. Connect To the Server

Select the server, then select the ‘CONNECT TO SERVER‘ button.

Join Using the Server’s IP Address

If your server isn’t showing up in the Rust Server List, you can connect directly using its IP and port.


1. Launch Rust


2. Open the In-Game Console

Press F1 to open the in-game console.


3. Connect to Server

Type the following command:

client.connect IP:PORT

Replace IP:PORT with your server’s address.

For example:
client.connect 5.9.23.51:60400

Press Enter. Rust will connect you directly to the server.

This method is especially useful for private servers or new ones that haven’t yet appeared in the public list.
