How to Wipe or Reset Persistence in DayZ

A persistence wipe resets all bases, items, containers, vehicles and world storage, without deleting the map itself.
This is commonly done to fix bugs, remove abandoned bases, or prepare for a new season.

You can choose between:

  • Full Persistence Wipe (most common)
  • Targeted Wipes (storage_1 only, vehicles, or expansion folders)
  • Selective Player/Spawn Wipe

1. Log In to Your Panel

2. Stop Your Server

3. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

4. Open the ‘mpmissions’ Folder

Inside the mpmissions directory, you will see a folder whose name changes depending on the map your server is running.

/mpmissions/DayZOffline.[map]

Open the folder that corresponds to your server’s map.

Inside, you’ll find the persistence folders that must be deleted in the next step.

5. Full Server Wipe (Loot, Vehicles, Players, Bases)

Inside the mission folder, delete the following folders:

Required for a standard persistence wipe:

  • storage_1
  • storage_2 (if present)
  • vehicles (if present)

These folders contain:

  • Bases & base items
  • Storage containers
  • Dynamic world items
  • Vehicles & vehicle states
  • Loot economy data

Optional: Expansion Mod Persistence

If you’re using DayZ Expansion, also wipe:

6. Selective Player/Spawn Wipe

Delete only the player persistence files (such as players.db and spawnpoints.bin). These files may be inside the storage_1 folder.

/mpmissions/DayZOffline.[map]/storage_1

7. Optional: Reset Economy Files

If you want to regenerate the loot economy, edit the file:

/mpmissions/DayZOffline.[map]/db/economy.xml

Change:
<initEconomy>0</initEconomy> to <initEconomy>1</initEconomy>

DayZ will rebuild the economy on next startup and automatically reset this value back to 0.

Only do this if:

  • Loot is not spawning
  • Loot is duplicated
  • Loot seems broken after many updates

Only advanced users should delete compiled cache files (such as types.bin, events.bin). Never delete your actual XML configuration files unless you have a backup.

8. Start Your Server

After deleting persistence folders, restart the server.

DayZ will rebuild all persistence files automatically.

9. Verify the Wipe

Join your server and check:

  • Bases removed
  • Inventories reset
  • Vehicles despawned
  • Loot respawn cycle refreshed

Everything should appear as it does on a fresh server. You can also check file timestamps in /storage_1 and server logs to confirm that persistence was regenerated correctly.
