Optimising Base Performance: The Impact of BaseCampWorkerMaxNum on Your Palworld Server

Note:

More Pals do not always mean more productivity. When the Palworld server CPU is overloaded, Pals will frequently “freeze” or stop working entirely. Lowering the limit to 12 often results in higher actual productivity because the server can process its pathfinding logic much faster.

1. Log In to Your Panel

3. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

4. Open the ‘PalWorldSettings.ini’ File

Navigate to:

Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini

5. Locate ‘BaseCampWorkerMaxNum‘

Tip: Use Ctrl + F to quickly find the required setting inside PalWorldSettings.ini

Choose a Stable Value:

• High Performance (16+ Players): Set to 10 or 12.
• Standard (Community): Set to 15 (Default).
• Extreme/Experimental: Set to 20 (Not recommended for servers with more than 4 active guilds).

Worker Count vs. Server Health

Pals Per Base	CPU Load	Pal AI Behavior
10	Optimal: Very low overhead; minimal lag.	Pals rarely get “stuck”, and pathfinding is instant.
15	Moderate: Stable for mid-sized servers.	Standard behaviour; occasional pathing delays.
20+	Heavy: Can cause “TPS” drops during peak hours.	Pals may stand still (glitch) as the server struggles to process tasks.
