How Base Raids Impact Palworld Server Performance and How To Optimise Them

1. Why Raids Cause Lag

When a raid begins, the server performs three heavy tasks simultaneously:

  1. AI Pathfinding: Calculating how NPCs move around your walls, furniture, and Pals.
  2. Physics Calculations: Tracking dozens of projectiles, explosions, and structural damage.
  3. Entity Spawning: Instantly loading new NPC data into the RAM and syncing it to all nearby players.

2. How to Optimise or Disable Raids

  • To completely remove the CPU spike caused by raids, you can disable them entirely.
  • If you want to keep raids but reduce the lag caused by buildings breaking, lower the damage structures take.

3. Manage Entity Limits

Raids often drop many items. If your server is already near its limit, these extra items can cause “rubber-banding.”

  • Variable: DropItemMaxNum=2000 (Lowering this ensures the server quickly “forgets” old dropped items to save memory).
