How To Change the Sync Distance on Your Space Engineers Server

Note:

The vanilla default is 3000 meters (3km). Increasing this number allows players to see massive space battles from incredibly far away, but it requires the server to process much more data, which can cause lag. Lowering the number is one of the best ways to improve server performance on a heavily populated server!

1. Log In to Your Panel

2. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

3. Select the ‘config’ Folder

4. Select the ‘Saves’ Folder

5. Select the ‘World’ Folder

6. Inside the ‘World’ Folder, Select the ‘Sandbox_config.sbc‘ File

7. Adjust the Sync Distance

Scroll through the document until you find the Sync Distance line. By default, it will look like this:

<SyncDistance>3000</SyncDistance>

Simply change the number to your desired distance in meters.

To allow players to see things from further away, try raising it: <SyncDistance>5000</SyncDistance>

To reduce lag and improve performance, try lowering it: <SyncDistance>2000</SyncDistance>

8. Save the Changes
