How To Enable or Disable Player Progression (Tech Trees) on Your Space Engineers Server

Note:

Disabling the progression system is highly recommended for fast-paced PvP servers or “Creative-Survival” hybrids. By turning it off, players will immediately have the blueprints for every single block in the game, allowing them to focus on designing advanced ships rather than grinding through the tech tree!

1. Log In to Your Panel

2. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

3. Select the ‘config’ Folder

4. Select the ‘Saves’ Folder

5. Select the ‘World’ Folder

6. Inside the ‘World’ Folder, Select the ‘Sandbox_config.sbc‘ File

7. Configure the Progression Setting

Scroll through the file or use Ctrl + F to locate the <EnableResearch> tag. (Note: The game files refer to the progression tree as “Research”).

To Disable Progression (All Blocks Unlocked): Change the value so the line reads exactly <EnableResearch>false</EnableResearch>. Players will now be able to build any block immediately, provided they have the materials.

To Enable Progression (Vanilla Tech Tree): Change the value to true so the line reads <EnableResearch>true</EnableResearch>. Players will have to build basic blocks to unlock advanced ones.
