How To Connect to Your Valheim Server via Direct IP

Note:

The in-game community server browser in Valheim can take several minutes to index newly launched worlds, and private servers (PUBLIC SERVER set to false) do not appear in public lists at all. Adding your server to your in-game Favorites list via Direct IP bypasses master server indexing, allowing you to connect reliably using your server’s assigned address and port.

1. Log In to Your Panel

2. On the Dashboard, Copy Your Server IP and Port

3. Select the ‘Startup’ Tab

4. Check Your Server Password

(I) Under the Variables section on the Startup page, locate the SERVER PASSWORD field.

(II) Note down your current server password, or verify if the field is populated.

5. Launch Valheim and Select ‘Start Game’ Option

6. Choose Your Character and Select ‘Start’

7. Select the ‘Join Game’ Tab

8. Click the ‘Add Server’ Button

9. Enter Your Server IP Address and Port

In the 'Enter IP or invite code' dialogue box, paste your server’s full connection address (<ServerIP>:<Port>)

Example: 65.109.XX.XX:15XX2

10. Select Your Server and Click ‘Connect’

11. Enter Your Server Password

(I) If your server is password protected, a'Enter Password' dialogue will appear on your screen.

(II) Type in your server password and press Enter to connect to the world.

12. Troubleshooting Connection Failures

(A) “Failed to Connect” Error

Verify that your server displays a green Online status badge in your Cybrancee panel before attempting to join. If the server is still booting or loading world chunks, the connection will drop.

(B) Missing Port Suffix

Pasting only the IP address without port (:15XX2) will lead to a connection timeout. Ensure the port is appended to the end of the IP.

(C) Password Case Sensitivity

If a password is required, note that Valheim passwords are case-sensitive. Check the SERVER PASSWORD box under the Startup tab to verify the exact spelling.
