How To Enable Pause and Timeout for Competitive Play on Your CS2 Server

Note:

Always execute sv_cheats 1 before bot commands, or they won’t work. For competitive matches, keep sv_cheats 0 to ensure a fair game and proper stat tracking.

1. Log In to Your Panel

3. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

4. Open the ‘server.cfg’ File

Navigate to:

game/csgo/cfg/

5. Edit the file

Tip: Use Ctrl + F to quickly find the required setting inside server.cfg

Competitive Timeout Settings

Category	Command	Value	Description
Timeouts	mp_team_timeout_max	4	Total tactical timeouts allowed per team.
Timeouts	mp_team_timeout_time	30	Duration (seconds) of each tactical timeout.
Timeouts	mp_team_timeout_ot_max	1	Extra timeouts granted if the match goes to Overtime.
Halftime	mp_halftime_pausetimer	1	Enables an automatic pause when teams switch sides.
Halftime	mp_halftime_pausetime	60	Duration (seconds) of the halftime break.
Match Flow	mp_freezetime	15	Seconds players are stuck in spawn at round start.
Safety	mp_autokick	0	Prevents the server from kicking AFK players during pauses.

Action	Command	Effect
Technical Pause	mp_pause_match	Freezes the game at the start of the next round.
Resume Match	mp_unpause_match	Immediately ends a pause and starts the round.
Warmup Pause	mp_warmup_pausetimer 1	Stops the warmup countdown indefinitely.
Warmup Resume	mp_warmup_pausetimer 0	Resumes the warmup countdown.
Full Restart	mp_restartgame 1	Instantly resets the match to Round 1.
Cheat Access	sv_cheats 1	Required before using bot-specific or practice commands.
