How to Manage and Disable Active Mods in tModLoader

Note: Learning how to safely manage and disable active mods on your Terraria server is essential before removing any major content mods. Disabling mods that introduce custom tiles, ores, or items can permanently remove those items from your world if loaded. Always take a backup before modifying active mods.

1. Log In to Your Panel


2. Stop Your Server

Click the red ‘Stop’ button on the server dashboard and wait until your server status displays ‘Offline’.

3. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

From the left navigation menu, select the ‘Files’ tab to access your server’s root directory.

4. Open the ‘mods’ Directory

In your server file manager, locate and click on the ‘mods’ folder to view your installed mod files.

5. Locate the ‘enabled.json’ File

Inside the mods folder, locate the ‘enabled.json’ file which stores the list of all currently active mods.

6. Open the ‘enabled.json’ File

Click on the ‘enabled.json’ file to open it in the built-in file editor.

7. Review the Active Mods List

Inspect the JSON array inside the editor to identify the mod names currently enabled on your server.

8. Remove the Desired Mod Entry

Delete the name of the mod you want to disable from the list, ensuring the remaining JSON syntax and commas stay valid.

9. Save the Updated Configuration

Click the blue ‘Save Content’ button in the bottom-right corner to save your changes to enabled.json.

10. Start Your Server

Click the green ‘Start’ button on the server header to boot your Terraria server with your updated mod configuration.
