How To Disable Building Decay Entirely on Your Conan Exiles Server

Note:

While the decay system is essential for public servers to manage performance and free up land, it might be more of a hindrance if you are running a private server for a small group of friends or a dedicated roleplaying community. In these environments, you might want to build massive, persistent cities or monumental castles that stand forever, regardless of how often their creators log in to the game.

Building decay is the game’s automated cleanup system designed to slowly degrade and ultimately destroy player-made structures if the owner does not log in for a set amount of time. The DisableBuildingAbandonment setting acts as a master switch; turning it on bypasses the decay system entirely, rendering all structures permanent so they never naturally collapse from abandonment.

1. Log In to Your Panel

3. Navigate to ‘ServerSettings.ini‘ File

4. Disable Building Decay Entirely

Look for the line DisableBuildingAbandonment=False. To turn off the decay system completely, change the value immediately after the equals sign so that it reads True.

False (Default): Building abandonment is active. Structures will eventually decay and collapse if players do not log in to refresh their timers.

True: Building abandonment is disabled. Structures are permanent and will never naturally decay.

Note: If you cannot find this exact line in your configuration file, you can easily add it yourself. Create a new line directly underneath the [ServerSettings] header and type it in exactly as DisableBuildingAbandonment=True.
