How To Set the Maximum Faction Count on Your Space Engineers Server

Note:

Factions are the core of multiplayer Space Engineers. They allow players to team up, share medical bays, pool resources, and declare war on rival groups. However, if you are running an organized PvP server, a specialized roleplay scenario, or an event, you might want to artificially limit exactly how many player factions can exist at one time.

By setting a Maximum Faction Count, you can force players to join existing teams rather than creating dozens of one-man factions that clutter up the server’s diplomacy menu.

1. Log In to Your Panel

2. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

3. Select the ‘config’ Folder

4. Select the ‘Saves’ Folder

5. Select the ‘World’ Folder

6. Inside the ‘World’ Folder, Select the ‘Sandbox_config.sbc‘ File

7. Configure the Maximum Factions Setting

Scroll through the file or use Ctrl + F to find the <MaxFactionsCount> tag.

To Allow Unlimited Factions (Vanilla Default): Change the value to 0. A value of zero tells the server there is no limit. The line should look exactly like this: <MaxFactionsCount>0</MaxFactionsCount>.

To Restrict Factions (Events/PvP): Change the value to your desired maximum number. For example, if you want exactly three competing teams, change the line to read <MaxFactionsCount>3</MaxFactionsCount>.
