How To Configure Trash Removal and Auto-Cleanup on Your Space Engineers Server

Note:

When two players bump into each other or one slips and crashes their mining ship into a rock during huge space battles, the debris doesn’t just disappear. Instead, every block that gets knocked off of a hull will turn into its own individual grid. This can quickly eat up hundreds of floating debris if left unchecked on your server’s RAM. Setting up auto-cleanup allows you to keep your universe clean without accidentally deleting active player bases Every block that gets blown off a hull becomes it’s own unique grid. 1. Log In to Your Panel

2. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

3. Select the ‘config’ Folder

4. Select the ‘Saves’ Folder

5. Select the ‘World’ Folder

6. Inside the ‘World’ Folder, Select the ‘Sandbox_config.sbc‘ File

7. Enable and Adjust Trash Removal

Scroll through the file or use Ctrl + F to find the trash removal settings.

1. First, ensure the system is on by finding <TrashRemovalEnabled> Make sure it is set to true.

It should look exactly like this:

2. Next, look for <OptimalGridCount>. If you set this to a low number (like 1), the server will aggressively attempt to delete grids to reach that target. It is usually safer to leave this at 0 (disabled) and rely on distance and block-count rules instead.
