How To Enable Special Infected Bots in Left 4 Dead 2 Versus Mode

Important!

You must have SourceMod and MetaMod installed on your server before following this guide. If you do not have them yet, check out our guides on installing them first.

1. Download the Infected Bots Control Plugin

2. Log In to Your Panel

3. Select the ‘left4dead2’ Folder

4. Select the ‘addons’ Folder

5. Select ‘sourcemod’ Folder

6. Select the ‘plugins’ Folder

7. Upload the Infected Bots Control Plugin Into the ‘plugins’ Folder

8. Restart Your Server

9. How the Plugin Works

The plugin actively monitors your lobby. If there are fewer than 4 human players on the Infected team during a Versus or Scavenge match, the plugin forces the AI Director to spawn bot-controlled Hunters, Smokers, Chargers, and Boomers to assist the human players in wiping out the survivors

10. Adjusting Exactly How Many Bots Are Allowed to Spawn (Optional)

Navigate to: left4dead2/cfg/sourcemod/l4d_infectedbots.cfg

You can open this file to adjust exactly how many bots are allowed to spawn, specific limits for each Special Infected class, and even whether or not the bots are allowed to control the Tank

Total Bot Limit: Look for l4d_infectedbots_max_specials "4". Change the “4” if you want more or fewer total special infected on the map at the same time.

Individual Class Limits: Look for lines like l4d_infectedbots_hunter_limit "1" or l4d_infectedbots_charger_limit "1". You can change these numbers to dictate exactly which specials the bots are allowed to spawn as. (Set a limit to “0” to completely prevent bots from using that specific class).

Tank Control: Look for l4d_infectedbots_spawntanks "1". By default, this is set to 1 (On), meaning the AI can take control of the Tank if no human players are available. If you want to force Tanks to only be controlled by human players, change this to “0”.

Save and Apply: If you make any changes to this file, be sure to click Save Content and restart your server for the new rules to take effect!
