How To Disable Player Auto-Healing for a Hardcore Survival Experience in Space Engineers

Note:

An injured engineer will naturally and slowly heal themselves back to 70% health as the norm, so small falls or minor skirmishes tend not to have long-lasting effects. Server owners aiming to build a truly gritty hardcore survival experience will want to disable this feature, forcing players to rely solely on Medical Rooms or Survival Kits to patch themselves up after taking damage.

1. Log In to Your Panel

2. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

3. Select the ‘config’ Folder

4. Select the ‘Saves’ Folder

5. Select the ‘World’ Folder

6. Inside the ‘World’ Folder, Select the ‘Sandbox_config.sbc‘ File

7. Configure the Auto-Healing Setting

Scroll through the file or use Ctrl + F to find the <AutoHealing> tag.

To Enable Auto-Healing: Change the value to true so the line reads <AutoHealing>true</AutoHealing>

To Disable Auto-Healing: Change the value so the line reads exactly <AutoHealing>false</AutoHealing>. Players will now stay at whatever health percentage they drop to until they actively heal themselves using a medical grid block.
