How to Reduce Server Lag and Ping Spikes on Your Left 4 Dead 2 Server

Note:

If your server feels stuttery or players are complaining about lag spikes, your server’s network “rates” might be set too low. Adding these specific network commands ensures your server allows enough bandwidth for a smooth experience.

1. Log In to Your Panel

2. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

4. Select the ‘cfg’ Folder

6. Add the Network Rate Commands

Scroll to the bottom of the file and paste the following block of code. This forces the server to use optimal bandwidth and update rates for standard 30-tick gameplay:

sv_minrate 30000
sv_maxrate 60000
sv_mincmdrate 30
sv_maxcmdrate 30
sv_minupdaterate 30
sv_maxupdaterate 30

7. Save the Changes
