How to Host “Last Man on Earth” on Your Left 4 Dead 2 Server

Note:

In this mode, you are completely alone without any survivor bots to help you. To make matters worse, there are no common zombies to act as a buffer, only Special Infected spawn!

1. The Temporary Console Method (Fastest)

If you just want to load up the mode for a quick solo session without making it a permanent server change, you can use your in-game Developer Console (~).

Simply log in as the server admin via RCON (or SourceMod) and type the map command followed by the map name and the mutation1 modifier. For example, to start Dead Centre as the Last Man on Earth, type:

map c1m1_hotel mutation1

The server will instantly reload the map and strip away all survivor bots.

2. The Permanent Server Config Method

If you want your server to strictly run this solo mutation all the time, you need to edit your configuration file. Follow the steps below

4. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

8. Edit the server.cfg File

Click on the server.cfg file to open it in the editor. Scroll to the very bottom and add these two lines to force the server to recognise and boot into Realism mode exclusively:

sv_gametypes "mutation1"
mp_gamemode "mutation1"

9. Save the Changes

10. Restart Your Server
