How to Set Up Group Permissions and Prefixes in TShock

Note: 

Configuring group permissions in TShock allows server administrators to organize player ranks, assign custom commands, and personalize chat prefixes on a Terraria server.

1. Log In to Your Panel


2. Select the ‘Console’ Tab

From the left navigation menu, select the ‘Console’ tab to access your server’s live command line.

3. Create a New Group

In the console command field, enter group add and press enter to create your new group.

4. Assign Group Permissions in TShock

Enter group addperm (for example, group addperm VIP tshock.buff.*) into the console. This grants specific administrative permissions or commands exclusively to the selected group members.

5. Set a Chat Prefix for the Group

Enter group prefix into the console to display a custom tag before group members’ names in chat.

6. Assign a Chat Color to the Group

Set a unique chat color for the group by entering group color <rrr,ggg,bbb> into the console. Using custom RGB colors makes ranks instantly recognizable during gameplay.

7. Assign a Player to the Group

Add a player to your new group by entering user group into the console.
