How To Install and Configure Better Archery on Your Valheim Server

Note:

Ranged combat in vanilla Valheim suffers from floaty arrow arcs, missing retrieve mechanics, and limited inventory space for ammunition. Better Archery overhauls the archery system by introducing realistic ballistic velocity and gravity, a dedicated 3-slot quiver inventory, custom zoom aiming, arrow recovery probabilities, and field crafting for wooden arrows.

3. Log In to Your Panel

4. Select the ‘Switch Loader’ Tab

5. Ensure That the Server Is Running on Valheim BepINex Loader

7. Select the ‘BepInEx’ Folder

8. Select the ‘Upload Folder’ Option

13. Configuration: Arrow Physics & Improvements

This section controls flight speed, gravitational arc drop, aiming offsets, and projectile spread:

Setting Key	Default Value	Description
Enable Arrow Improvements	true	Master switch for all custom projectile physics and aiming improvements.
Set Arrow Velocity	70	Speed at which arrows travel through the air (vanilla is 60). Higher values produce faster, flatter shots.
Set Arrow Gravity	15	Ballistic downward pull applied to arrows over distance (vanilla is 5).
Set Arrow Accuracy	0	Crosshair deviation and arrow spread (vanilla default is -1). A value of 0 makes arrows fly directly to the center of the crosshair.
Set Aim Direction	{“x”:0.0,”y”:0.05,”z”:0.0}	Fixes third-person crosshair misalignment by applying a vertical coordinate offset.

14. Configuration: Dedicated Quiver System

This section manages the dedicated 3-slot quiver inventory, HUD ammo counter, and fast-swap hotkeys:

15. Configuration: Retrievable Arrows & Spawn Pool

This section governs recovery percentages from targets, despawn timers, and arrow transmutation rules:

Enable Retrievable Arrows	true	Enables the chance to recover fired arrows from corpses or terrain.
Arrow Disappear Time	60	Duration (in seconds) before unretrieved arrows despawn from the world.
Arrow Disappear On Hit	false	When true, instantly destroys arrows that fail their retrieval roll upon impact.
Retrievable Arrow Solid Collider	false	When true, gives stuck arrows solid collision, allowing players to climb or stand on them.
