How to Configure Building Decay on Your Rust Server

1. Log In to Your Panel


2. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

3. Locate the ‘cfg’ Folder

This folder is in /home/container/server/rust/cfg.

4. Create a New ‘server.cfg’ File

If you already have a ‘server.cfg’ file, you can skip Steps 5 and 6 and go directly to Step 7.

5. Select ‘Create File’ Button at the Bottom


6. Enter the Name ‘server.cfg’

Enter the file name in the ‘File Name’ field as ‘server.cfg’.

Select the ‘Create File’ button.

7. Edit the ‘server.cfg’ File

8. Enter the Decay Scale

Add a new line with the command. Replace with the value you want.

decay.scale <number>

For example:

decay.scale 0.5 will reduce decay by 50%.
decay.scale 0 will disable decay completely.


9. Optional: Advanced Building Decay Settings

Each command should be added on a new line.

  • decay.upkeep_grief_protection → Minutes before decay starts once the Tool Cupboard is gone. (Default: 1440 / 24h).
  • decay.upkeep_period_minutes → How long Tool Cupboard resources prevent decay. (Default: 1440 / 24h).
  • decay.duration_toptier → Decay time for HQM structures without upkeep. (Default: 720 / 12h).
  • decay.duration_metal → Decay time for metal structures. (Default: 480 / 8h).
  • decay.duration_stone → Decay time for stone structures. (Default: 300 / 5h).
  • decay.duration_wood → Decay time for wooden structures. (Default: 180 / 3h).
  • decay.duration_twig → Decay time for twig structures. (Default: 60 / 1h).

10. Select the ‘Save Content’ Button
