How to Give Your Minecraft Client More RAM

1. Open Your Minecraft Client


2. Select the ‘Installation’ Tab

In the launcher, make sure you have ‘Minecraft Java Edition’ selected and navigate to the ‘Installations’ tab.

3. Select the Installation You Want to Edit

In the Java edition tab, in the top sidebar, select ‘Installations’, then select the three dots on your desired version, and select ‘Edit’.

4. Select ‘MORE OPTIONS’

Now, a menu should pop up. Select ‘More Options’.

5. Edit the Startup Flags

In the ‘JVM ARGUMENTS’ section, you’ll find text at the beginning it says -Xmx2G -XX. This determines the maximum RAM your client can use, in gigabytes. Simply change the 2 to increase the allocated RAM. Then, hit the ‘Save’ button. By default, this is set to 2 gigabytes.
