How To Set Up Custom Radio Stations On Your Rust Server

1. Log In to Your Panel


2. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

3. Locate the ‘cfg’ Folder

This folder is in /home/container/server/rust/cfg.

4. Create a New ‘server.cfg’ File

If you already have a ‘server.cfg’ file, you can skip Steps 5 and 6 and go directly to Step 7.

5. Select the ‘Create File’ Button at the Bottom


6. Enter the Name ‘server.cfg’

Enter the file name in the ‘File Name’ field as ‘server.cfg’.

Select the ‘Create File’ button.

7. Edit the ‘server.cfg’ File

8. Enter Your Custom Radio Station

Add a new line with the convar.

Boombox.ServerUrlList "<Station Name>,<Stream URL>, <Station Name2>,<Stream URL2>"

For example:
Boombox.ServerUrlList "Jazz & Chill,https://mydomain.com/jazzchill.mp3"

9. Listen In-Game

Players who have access to a boombox or radio device can open its interface.

The newly added station should appear in the list under its Station Name and begin playing automatically.

Default stations (such as Rust Radio) remain in the list—you cannot remove them.

You can now listen to your custom radio station through a car radio, boombox, portable boombox, and other compatible devices.

For this example, we’ll use a car radio:

  • Look at the car radio and hold E. Select the ‘Change Station’ option.

  • Your custom radio stations will appear at the end of the default list.
  • Select the station you want to play.

  • Look at the car radio and interact with E. Alternatively, you can hold E and select the ‘Play’ option.
