How to Allow Multiple Client Versions to Join Your Minecraft Server

Note:

By default, Minecraft servers only allow players to join if their game version exactly matches the server version (for example, a 1.20 server normally only accepts players using Minecraft 1.20). Allowing “multiple client versions” means configuring your server so that players using older versions (such as 1.19) or newer versions (such as 1.21) can all connect and play at the same time. To do this, we will use the popular plugins ViaVersion and ViaBackwards.

1. Download the ViaVersions and ViaBackwards .jar Files

Note: Make sure to match your Server Version and Platform.

2. Log In to Your Panel

3. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

4. Select the ‘Plugins’ or ‘Mods’ Folder

5. Upload the Files into the Folder

6. Restart Your Server

7. Select the ‘Console’ Tab

8. Check the console to ensure the plugins are running
