How To Install MetaMod on Your CS2 Server

Note:

Whenever Valve releases a major CS2 update, MetaMod often needs to be updated too. If your server starts crashing after an update, simply download the newest MetaMod version and overwrite the files in the addons folder.

If you get the “No plugins load” message just means you haven’t added any specific tools (like CounterStrikeSharp or an Admin Menu) for MetaMod to manage yet.

1. Log In to Your Panel

2. Stop Your Server

3. Download MetaMod

---

4. Extract the Downloaded File

5. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

6. Upload the Extracted File

Navigate to :

home/container/game/csgo/

Click Upload and select the MetaMod file you just extracted.

You should now see an addons folder inside your /csgo/ directory. The structure should look like: game/csgo/addons/metamod.

7. Open the ‘gameinfo.gi‘ File

Navigate to:

/home/container/game/csgo/

8. Edit the ‘gameinfo.gi‘ File

Add this line directly above the line that says Game csgo:

Game csgo/addons/metamod

9. Start Your Server

10. Select the ‘Console’ Tab

11. Execute the Command

Type: meta list

Success: You see "Listing 0 plugins: No plugins loaded"

MetaMod is officially active! To actually run plugins like Skins, Deathmatch, or !admin commands, you’ll need to pair it with CounterStrikeSharp.

Failure: If it says “Unknown command,” double-check your gameinfo.gi edit.
