How To Fix the “Host_Error: String Table Dictionary” Error When Loading Custom Maps in Left 4 Dead 2

Note:

Left 4 Dead 2 has a hard-coded limit on the number of custom assets (textures, models, and sounds) that it can load into its memory at one time. If you run a highly modified server with massive custom add-on campaigns, your server or your players might crash with the dreaded “Host_Error: String Table Dictionary” message.

1. Log In to Your Panel

2. Stop Your Server

3. Select the ‘Files’ Tab

4. Select the ‘left4dead2’ Folder

---

5. Select the ‘cfg’ Folder

---

6. Select the ‘server.cfg‘ File

---

7. Disable Server Consistency

Scroll to the very bottom of the file and paste the following command on a new line:

sv_consistency 0

This tells the server to stop strictly checking every single custom file, which heavily reduces the load on the string table dictionary.
