How To Change the Tick Rate on Your Don’t Starve Together Server

Note:

The tick rate dictates how frequently the server sends network updates to connected clients. The default value is 15. Increasing this to 30 provides smoother combat and movement, but pushing it higher (such as 60) will significantly increase CPU usage and may cause server stutter.

1. Log In to Your Panel

2. Navigate to the ‘Files’ Tab

3. Locate the Cluster Configuration File

Path: Home > Container > DoNotStarveTogether > Config > Server

4. Edit the Tick Rate Value

Locate the [NETWORK] section within the file. Find the tick_rate = setting or create it on a new line directly underneath [NETWORK] if it is missing. Change the number to your desired tick rate (e.g., tick_rate = 30).

5. Save the Configuration

Select 'Save Content' to apply your configuration changes.
