How To Create Custom Roles on Your Project Zomboid Server (Build 42)

Note:

In this article, we will explain how to create custom roles on your Project Zomboid server, which will allow you to set specific permissions for a new role that you can then assign to any users you want on your server.

1. Open Project Zomboid

2. Log In to Your Server With Your Admin Account

If you don’t know how to be an admin on your server, you can view our Become an Admin on Your Project Zomboid Server article.

3. Select the ‘Admin’ Button

4. Select the ‘Roles List’ Button

5. Create the New Custom Role

(1) Select the ‘Add’ Button.

(2) Enter a Name for the Role.

(3) Select the ‘OK’ Button.

6. Edit the New Custom Role

(1) Select the Created Role.

(2) Select the ‘Edit’ Button.

7. Set the Permissions for the New Custom Role

(1) Enter a Description for the Role.

(2) Set a Color for the Role.

(3) Set the Role Capabilities: Here you can search for and enable all the permissions you want the user with this custom role to be able to execute.

(4) Select the ‘Save’ Button.

Once saved, it will take a couple of seconds for the role changes to update:

8. Enter the Command /setaccesslevel <username> <role_name>

To open the chat and enter the command, press the T key.

Enter the command replacing <username> with the username of the player you want to assign the role to, and <role_name> with the role name.

Once the command is entered, it should look like this:

If you want to enter the command through the ‘Console’ tab of your panel, make sure to enter the same command but without the ‘/‘. For example:

setaccesslevel “Cybrancee” “VIP”
