Once the Pterodactyl.ini file is open, scroll down until you find the line that says ‘Public’:

Change the value of this parameter to false:

This will prevent other people from finding your server on websites that list Project Zomboid servers on the network.

6. Add a Password to Your Server

If you don’t know how to add a password to your server, you can view our How To Add a Password to a Project Zomboid Server article.

7. Activate the Whitelist

Inside the Pterodactyl.ini file, scroll down until you find the line that says ‘Open’:

Project Zomboid Pterodactyl file open line true

Change the value of this parameter to false:

Project Zomboid Pterodactyl file open line false

This will ensure that only users added to the whitelist by administrators can join the server.

8. Restart Your Server

9. Add Users to the Whitelist

Select the ‘Console’ Tab:

10. Enter the ‘adduser‘ Command in the Console

Enter the command adduser [username] [password], where you will need to type the username and the password that the user must enter to access the server.

For example: adduser Pepe world123

Make sure to copy the username and password, distinguishing between any uppercase or lowercase letters. Then, press the Enter key:

The user has now been added to the whitelist, note that the password displayed in the console is encrypted. As a result, only the individual who initially defined the username and password using the console command will know what the password really is.
