How To Set Up Reserved Slots for VIPs and Admins on Your Left 4 Dead 2 Server

1. Log In to Your Panel


2. Select the ‘left4dead2’ Folder

6. Select the ‘disabled’ Folder

7. Inside the ‘disabled’ Folder, Select ‘reservedslots.smx‘ File

(Note: If the file is not in the disabled folder, check the main plugins folder it may already be active!)

8. After Selecting the File, Select the ‘Move’ Button

9. Move the File Into ‘Plugins’ Folder

Path: home/container/left4dead2/addons/sourcemod/plugins

10. Restart Your Server


11. Inside the ‘left4dead2’ Folder, Select the ‘cfg’ Folder

12. Select the ‘sorucemod’ Folder

13. Inside ‘sourcemod’ Folder, Select the ‘sourcemod.cfg’ File

14. Set Your Reserved Count and Type

Scroll down until you find the reserved slot settings. As shown in the screenshot:

Change sm_reserve_type to 1 (This automatically kicks the public player with the shortest playtime to make room when an admin joins).

Change sm_reserved_slots to 1 (Number of slots you want to hold back).

15. Select the ‘Save Content’ Button


16. Navigate to the ‘configs’ Folder

16. Select the ‘admins_simple.ini’ File

17. Add Your Steam ID and Reserved Slot Flags

Scroll to the bottom of the file. Paste your admin or VIP’s Steam ID, followed by their permission flags. To grant reserved slot access, they must have the “a” flag.

(Example: STEAM_0:1:561734901 "99:z" "a").

18. Select the ‘Save Content’ Button


19. Restart Your Server
